Smart devices

In 2020, I bought the first smart relay built behind a conventional switch.

Here is such a small device that is placed behind any switch and controls the light

After a while, all sockets and switches were controlled via the Internet. There was only one problem - they were tied to a server located in China. To solve this problem, a Raspberry Pi 4 single-board computer was ordered from China..

On the Raspebery, I installed the open source Home Assistant operating system. In it, you can create automations, add voice assistants to device management.

At the moment, the smart home has 20 control relays, 6 leakage sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, smoke sensors, motion sensors, door and window opening sensors, and lighting sensors. All this works as a whole and is managed locally, i.e. the absence of the Internet does not interfere with the performance of a smart home.

For control, I use Amazon Alexa smart speakers that speak to me in English and Spanish. For iPhone - the Home application is integrated, through which the Siri assistant can also control devices.

Many people ask what is it about this smart home .. but in fact it is very convenient when you lie in bed and ask Alexa to turn off the light or turn on the air conditioner. When leaving home, in one phrase, start guarding the house, cleaning rooms and turning off electrical appliances.

My favorite thing about bathroom mirrors is that they automatically turn on the anti-fog and that you don't have to keep it on all the time..

Most of the guests appreciate the night illumination of the rooms, when you make your way through the dark rooms, the house illuminates the way with dim light.

Shall we continue our acquaintance?)
